I heard your interview on Jordan Richs’ show on WBZ AM in Boston, Mass just moments ago. Just to let you know the book sounded very interesting and I”ve ordered it via Amazon. ……Ed…shaylee2@verizon.net

    Kevin,

There is a big hole in my relationship with Austin where you used to be.

When and where can we catch up with you for book signings and to say goodbye ?

    Thanks for the memories,
    Chris

    Hi Kevin,

I’ve read many books this year but only two I consider amazing . First, “Footprints: The Life and Work of Wayne Shorter by Michelle Mercer. Second and more importantly, your fine missive Souled American: How Black Music Transformed White Culture.

I did an eight part series on Shorter which aired this summer in Cleveland based on Mercer’s book. I would really love to have you come to Cleveland to speak with students in our school system by the shores of Lake Erie.

The work is rich, colorful, thoughtful and compelling. I’ve always known that music is more than just sound. Like Charlie Parker once said, “If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.” Your book is a document that gets to the heart of our culture through the lens of music of all genres that have defined our nations soul.

I look forward to speaking with you on my show and exposing your work to my audience.

    Peace,

    Hi Kevin:

Miss you here in Austin. Thanks for “Souled American” - very well done.
I was in Dallas recently and caught your on-air interview with Glen Mitchell on KUT Radio. I enjoyed the interview and am glad you got to speak with him before his death. That was a shock.

    Be well, be happy.

    Love,
    Kyle
